Strategy & Market
We understand the market, the customer and the commercial model before designing anything.
Strategy is not a document. It is the set of decisions that determine what should exist at all: who the customer is, what they do instead today, what the business can charge for changing that, and which of the things everyone wants to build would actually change it.
Skipped, it does not announce itself. The project runs on time and on budget and produces something nobody needed — usually the thing the most insistent person in the room described, built beautifully. The bill arrives a year later as a rebuild, or as a product that works and does not sell.
So it runs before design and alongside it, rather than as a phase that finishes. Market and competitor research, the commercial model, a position that has to survive a sales conversation, and a validation step for the assumptions that are load-bearing. What comes out of it is what the product people design against, what the engineers scope against, and what the growth work is measured on a year later.
On a website engagement this is the difference between a site organised around the company’s org chart and one organised around how a customer decides. On a custom system it is what stops two years of platform being built on an assumption nobody wrote down.
